Peach State Transporters Website
Welcome, you have reached the companion website for the Peach State Transporters, an Atlanta based VW club.
We are an informal bunch made up of all types of people. From college students to retirees, all are welcome. The only requirement for joining is you own a VW Transporter (Bus, Vanagon or EuroVan), at one time owned a VW, or thought about owning a VW. Okay, if you know how to spell VW you may join.
How we differ from other Atlanta clubs is our membership is less formal (i.e. no dues, membership cards, elections, etc.) and the club activities usually involve camping or meeting to talk about camping. Of course we are constantly talking about our vehicles and how to repair our vehicles.
If you are looking for an Atlanta based informal group dedicated to VW Transporters, you are in the right place! |

Alright this is it. Its official! the Alabama Freeze Out will be at Tuskegee
National Forest. This is the same Forest the "Getaway" was at, but we are
getting a better spot. The one that attended the "AL Getaway" will remember
the killer incline entering the camp site. I am going this week in between
classes and work to meet the ranger and find a great spot. We have chosen this
forest because it enables more people to attend. It will also be FREE. The
getaway spot had no water source. We are hoping the spots with water will meet
the rest of the needs. If not tote your own water. We will have a the Famous
Breakfast Burritos on Sunday. There is an awsome bike trail running thoughout
this forest. I will have my bike so if you like mountain biking dont forget
your bike and helmet. I will have deatiled directions for yall very soon
We will also have the way marked once you get to the forest. Basically
all you have to do is get off I-85 at the exit with the ranger station on it I
beleave its exit 51. And head south. Go about a mile take the first dirt road
on the right and follow the signs/engineer tape/ ballons or whatever we hang
to mark the way. I dont think anyone had a problem last year finding the spot.
Just getting into it was the problem. Anyway better directions coming soon.
The web site http://www.afriendlyface.com/ has been updated.

Just a reminder. This week end is the first annual "Alabama Getaway"
campout. The spot is awsome. The mountain bike trail in the forrest is one
of my favorites and it runs very close to the site. Also theres a nearby
creek to play in. Not to mention the fun to be had at the site itself.. I am
sure this will be a great week end. Hope to see you there!!!
Info on the campout can be found here. If
your anywhere in the area, GO!!!!

Directions to the Alabama Getaway VW Campout
Take Exit 42, The Wire Road Exit, off of I-85. If your coming from the
Auburn side you'll take the Wire Rd. exit and turn left. If you're
comin' from the Montgomery side, you'll take the Wire rd. exit and turn
right. Keep a sharp look out, The first dirt Rd. on the right will be
your turn. This is dirt Road #900. You'll see a message board on your
left after you turn, just keep goin' straight. You'll pass three dirt
roads going to the left that are closed off with gates. When you come to
Rd. #913, cut back up to the left and go up the hill. You'll go up a
hill, then down a hill, then up a hill again. When you get to the top of
the hill, they'll be a steep incline to your right. Go up the incline
and your ready to pick your campin' spot.
